Russian opposition leader Alexi Navalny goes to buy milk, defying house arrest
Navalny confronted by three individuals, presumably police, near home.
Russian political opposition leader Alexi Navalny was met by three people, presumably police, while defying house arrest to go and buy milk.
Posting the image above on his blog, Navalny wrote that when returning from the store, the three individuals approached him and said, “Aleksei Anatolievich, return immediately”.
He also commented on the price of milk, stating: “I don’t want to say this but…The price of this milk! …75 rubles…last time I bought this it was 45”.
On December 30, Navalny was given a three-and-a-half-year suspended sentence for embezzlement, in a case widely seen as politically motivated. He first violated the terms of his house arrest last week to join an opposition rally in Moscow where he was detained. Navalny blogged on Monday that he had cut his ankle tracking device.
