Saying goodbye to Singh: Netizens rate PM’s tenure

Supporters say #ThankYouDrManmohanSingh for his decade in office while others hijack hashtag to criticise his performance.

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s tenure comes to an end this week, Indians have taken to Twitter using #ThankYouDrManMohanSingh to discuss the legacy Singh will leave in the country’s history. Many thanked Singh for his 10 years of service as prime minister. Others, however, are using the hashtag sarcastically to criticise him for what they see as ineffective leadership.

The election commission is set to announce Singh’s successor on Friday,

#ThankYouDrManMohanSingh has been used more than 30,000 times as post-poll surveys project the worst ever election performance for his ruling Congress Party. Singh will hold his last cabinet meeting May 17.
