
Ghana says no to ‘tweaa’ in parliament
Members of parliament banned from using slang term that expresses disapproval.

Ghanaian members of parliament have been barred from using the popular slang term “tweaa” after parliamentary speaker Edward Doe Adjaho said it was disruptive to official proceedings. Adjaho said that “tweaa” – an Akan word used to express disapproval or call a bluff – was “unparliamentary” and unnecessarily used by ministers during recent debates.
