LA baseball team faces backlash after meeting with Mexican president

Player criticised for presenting jersey to Pena Nieto amid corruption protests.

The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team landed in hot water after one of its players presented a jersey to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

Pena Nieto has come under fire in recent months after 43 students from the town of Ayotzinapa went missing, allegedly kidnapped by police and killed by cartel members. As protests in Mexico continue against government corruption, many were incensed when the Dodgers tweeted a photo of Mexican-American player Adrian Gonzalez giving Pena Nieto a jersey.

Some felt the meeting was inappropriate given the circumstances in Mexico.
