Divides down the toy aisle
The Stream examines how gender stereotypes play out in the toy store.
Blue is for boys and pink is for girls? In toy stores around the world the boys’ section is a bevy of cars and sports items, while girls’ shelves are lined with dolls. Supporters say companies are following the natural likes and dislikes of boys and girls. Critics argue this has long-term negative impacts. Now campaigns like #NoGenderDecember are trying to force toy companies to become more inclusive. We discuss at 1930GMT.
