St. Louis police want football players to apologise for Ferguson protest

#STLPDApologies trends after police criticise athletes’ ‘Hands up, don’t shoot’ demonstration.

On Sunday, American football players in St. Louis protested a grand jury’s decision not to indict Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown.

During pregame introductions, five black players from the St. Louis Rams entered the field with their hands raised, adopting the “Hands up, don’t shoot” gesture used by demonstrators calling for Wilson’s trial.

One of the players, Kenny Britt, shared this image before the game.
