#WhereWasKimJongUn? Twitter investigates
Satire spreads as North Korea tries to end speculation about leader’s absence.
North Korea is trying to end speculation about leader Kim Jong-Un’s absence, but the memes keep coming.
On Tuesday, state media released photos of Kim visiting a housing development and carrying a cane. It was the first time in over a month that the leader had been seen in public, though the date of the images cannot be independently confirmed.
Kim’s extended absence led to speculations that he might be ill or engaged in a power struggle. After the latest images were released, Twitter users put forth their own theories using the hashtag #WhereWasKimJongUn.
