Andrei Piontkovsky is a Russian political journalist and a thorn in President Vladimir Putin’s side.
Piontkovsky has debunked Putin’s popularity as his having a stranglehold on the media, and has accused the Kremlin of peddling lies.
But now, he is warning of much graver consequences if Russia carries on down its current path.
President Putin has long described the break up of the Soviet Union as the greatest political catastrophe of the 20th century. Piontkovsky believes the annexation of Crimea, and the Russian military build-up on Ukraine’s eastern border, is part of a masterplan to bring all Russian speaking people back into the mother country.
And he says Putin will not stop at Ukraine. Estonia and Lithuania will be next – both members of NATO.
The world order could quickly unravel.
On Talk to Al Jazeera, Andrei Piontkovsky explains this doomsday scenario if President Putin is not stopped.
