Inequality, race and pseudoscience

Geneticist Adam Rutherford and economist Faiza Shaheen discuss how to deconstruct racism and build a fairer world.

Adam Rutherford is a geneticist and author. In his latest book, How to Argue with a Racist, he provides the tools to dismantle the myth of biological race.

Faiza Shaheen is an economist, activist and one-time candidate for the Labour Party in the United Kingdom. Using statistics, she exposes how class, gender and racial prejudice are institutionalised in our economies.

In this episode, Adam and Faiza discuss how to combat racism in their respective fields of genetics and economics. They also examine the legacy of empire and how this has affected notions of identity and belonging at a time of polarisation and distrust.
