Riz Khan

Africa’s independence

As more than a dozen African nations mark 50 years of independence, we look at where the continent is headed.

Where are the future leaders of Africa? As more than one dozen nations mark 50 years of independence from European colonial rule, some are struggling with poverty, corruption and civil unrest while others are relatively prosperous.

Could a new generation of leadership make the difference and help move the continent forward?

On Wednesday’s Riz Khan we speak with Nuhu Ribadu, a former Nigerian official charged with fighting corruption, and Frederick Swaniker, the co-founder of the African Leadership Academy. Al Jazeera’s Yvonne Ndege also joins the programme.

This episode of Riz Khan aired on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
