Kashmir: Cycle of violence

Violence has flared again after months of calm in Indian Kashmir.

In the past four weeks, security forces fought with demonstrators demanding independence from India and killed some 17 protesters, many of them teenagers.

All this happened as India and Pakistan met for talks to ease tensions.

But the renewed violence could have exactly the opposite effect as each country claims the entirety of Kashmir as its own.
