Efraim Halevy served as director of the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, from 1998 to 2002 and as Israel’s ambassador to the European Union from 1996 to 1998.

In all, Halevy spent 28 years in Israel’s spy agency making him not only privy to but also a key player in the decisions that have shaped Israel over the last three decades.

Since leaving public life, Halevy has had harsh words for Shimon Peres, former Israeli prime minister, outlined what Israel knew before and after September 11 and revealed his candid thoughts about the Bush administration and its key players in the so-called ‘War on Terror’.

He supports Israel’s policy of extrajudicial killings or “targeted assassination” to change the leadership and makeup of Palestinian groups like Hamas but also argues that Israel should talk to Hamas.

We will ask Efraim Halevy about his years behind the scenes, his thoughts on Hamas and Iran as well as how he thinks the world should deal with al-Qaeda.
