Each year an estimated 800,000 people worldwide fall victim to human trafficking. An estimated $9.5 billion is generated in annual revenue from all trafficking activities, with at least $4 billion attributed to the worldwide brothel industry.
On Wednesday, Riz Khan speaks to Michael Viner, a New York Times bestselling author, whose recent book Shattered Dreams, Broken Promises chronicles the lives of 23 East European women whose aspiration for a better life brought them face to face with the dark side of the illegal industry.
Riz also speaks to Norma Hotaling, a woman who turned her own experience with homelessness, addiction and prostitution into a mission of social entrepreneurialism. We will also be speaking to a victim of sex trafficking.
