Turkey positions itself as the bridge between Europe, Asia and the Middle East, a role it hopes to consolidate with accession to the European Union.
However, there are a number of obstacles it has to overcome first, including addressing issues of human rights and international practices and standards.
Turkey’s government says it has made significant progress on all fronts and has a long-term plan to ensure it achieves full membership. What does that plan entail?
