Can the next US president retrieve the secure, well-paid employment enjoyed by previous generations of American workers?

Jobs – or jobs and the economy – is at the top of every poll that asks Americans what their top issue is in their voting decision for president and their priority for the federal government.

Whoever becomes the next US president after the election on November 8, she or he will be expected to live up to promises both have made to get back the secure, well-paid, employment enjoyed by previous generations of American workers.

But is that even possible in today’s globalised world amid rapidly changing technologies? Or is it just wishful harking-back to days long since gone? People and Power sent Bob Abeshouse to find out.
