Clovis Maksoud
The veteran diplomat and scholar discusses life in the center of Arab regional politics and East-West issues.
Clovis Maksoud was born into a Christian-Lebanese family and has become one of the most respected intellectuals of the Middle East.
In his early career, he developed his skills as a lawyer and journalist before becoming the ambassador of the League of Arab States to the US and the United Nations.
As the representative of his region’s interests to the US and the world, he accepted one of the most challenging assignments an Arab could face.
Since then he has continued to support diplomatic efforts through his involvement in the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) and academics – primarily as a professor at American University and head of its Center for the Global South.
In his interview with Riz Khan, Clovis Maksoud reflects on these experiences and their relevance to the multi-polar world of today.
