Inside Story

Will there finally be justice for Giulio Regeni?

Italy lays charges as new evidence implicates Egyptian security services.

It has been nearly five years since Italian student Giulio Regeni was tortured and killed in Egypt.

New videos obtained by Al Jazeera suggest security services followed the 28 year old for more than a month before he disappeared.

Italian prosecutors, frustrated by a lack of cooperation from Egypt, have charged four Egyptian agents with kidnapping and murder.

Egypt has suspended its own probe and says whoever killed Regeni had no connection with the state.

What are the broader implications of this case?
