Challenging athletics’ doping minefield

Sebastian Coe’s election as the president of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) comes as the sport has been tainted with a series of doping controversies.

Coe has said he and his new team will be “vigilant” in their fight against cheats.

The former middle-distance runner has promised the establishment of an independent anti-doping body, with IAAF tests currently going through the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

He did not reveal how the new body would work, saying it was something he had to discuss with his IAAF colleagues over the coming weeks.

So, will Coe and the IAAF be able to boot out doping? Or is the phenomenon part of this sport?
