Can malaria be eradicated?
A new vaccine has been tested, but shows only a partial success rate against the disease.
The vaccine is called RTS,S and is designed for children in Africa. It would be the first licensed human vaccine against a parasitic disease and could help prevent millions of cases of malaria, which currently kills more than 600,000 people a year.
The shot is expected to be approved for use on the continent from October after final trial data showed it offered partial protection for up to four years.
So, can malaria be eradicated?
