Will Trudeau’s victory make a change in Canada?
Justin Trudeau’s resounding victory ushers in a new era for Canada.
The Liberal Party has swept to power in Canada after winning a stunning majority in the general election, toppling Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives with a promise of change.
Its leader, 43-year-old Justin Trudeau, is the country’s new Prime Minister.
Harper conceded defeat and the Conservative party announced his resignation, ending a nine-year run in power.
The Liberals’ victory is a turn in political fortunes that smashed the record for the number of seats gained from one election to the next.
The centre-left Liberals were in a distant third place when this election was called – only to surge to first on election day.
So, what does this mean for Canada and its role around the world?
