Zuma scandal: Home Truths?

South Africa’s president stands accused of using millions in state funds for private residence.

South Africa’s top corruption watchdog says President Jacob Zuma “benefited unduly” from a $23ml security upgrade to his home.

Refurbishments included a swimming pool, amphitheatre, visitors’ centre and cattle enclosure, all paid for out of state funds.

South Africa’s public protector, Thuli Madonsela, accused Zuma of “conduct inconsistent with his office” and ordered him to pay back some of what she described as an “enormous capital investment”.

It is the latest embarrassment for Zuma, who has been dogged by a series of corruption scandals, and comes just six weeks before national elections.

But how will this damning report affect his political career?
