This week marks the 25th anniversary of the World Wide Web, an invention that has brought change at a pace unequalled in the history of humanity.
It was back in 1989 that British engineer Tim Berners-Lee first submitted his idea to share information between universities and institutes around the world. An idea now considered to be one of the world’s greatest inventions.
But along with the benefits of a world online have come the challenges: surveillance and censorship, privacy and freedom of opinion.
So, has the vision of global public access been a global force for good? And has there been a price to pay for the privilege?
