On Wednesday Yemen’s opposition called for civil disobedience across the country. It follows another day of clashes with police, in which eight people died.
Protesters continue to reject any deal that does not include the immediate departure of Ali Abdullah Saleh, the country’s president.
Saleh says he is going nowhere until the end of his term, but is he serious about hanging onto power regardless of the cost or is he simply negotiating better terms for his exit? And just what are the prospects for a resolution for Yemen?
