Are the UN goals achievable?

World leaders meet in New York to assess the progress on achieving the United Nations Millennium Development goals.

World leaders gather in New York this week to discuss the eight Millenium Development Goals the UN set ten years ago – formulating an approach to dealing with global issues like poverty, education. disease and hunger in the developing world.
 
But with only five years to go what is being done? Are these goals becoming unrealistic or unachievable?

Joining the programme are Charles Abugre, the UN Millennium Campaign’s regional director based in Nairobi, Dr Vincent Magombe, the head of Africa Inform International, a Network of African journalists, and Vandana Shiva, an environmental activist and author.
