US candidates’ stance on Iraq

Where do they stand on future dealings with Iraq and can they convince their voters?

Twenty-four states have voted in Super Tuesday, the biggest day so far in the US presidential race. Senator John McCain has taken a big leap forward in his bid to become Republican nominee, gaining a clear lead over rivals Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

In the Democrat camp, the race is much tighter between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

So far, domestic policy and especially the US economy has dominated campaigning. But what of foreign issues, particularly Iraq?

Inside Story asks what stance the main candidates from each party have on future dealings with Iraq, and what it will take for each of them to convince their voters.
