After two months of political crisis, Kenya’s rival political leaders finally reached a coalition deal on Thursday.

Following the intervention of Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary general and Jakaya Kikwete the head of the African Union, the government and opposition have agreed to create the new post of Prime Minister.

This will give the opposition an important say in running the country’s affairs.

The agreement comes after 1500 deaths following post-election violence and intense international pressure to find a solution.

Inside Story, with presenter Lauren Taylor, discusses what the agreement entails and the future of the country.
