Serbians have begun voting for a new president in polls which could have far-reaching consequences for the troubled Balkan state.
In a closely-fought contest, the two main candidates are a pro-European reformer and a Euro-sceptical ultra-nationalist.
The election is overshadowed by the prospect of a breakaway Kosovan province, supported by most of Europe and with campaigners threatening to declare independence in the coming weeks.
Will the result of the polls see Serbia drawn into the EU fold, or returning to international isolation?
Inside Story examines the evidence.
