On Inside Story we investigate Osama bin Laden’s latest message to the world, which focuses on calling US citizens to reconsider their judgments on Bush’s policies in the Middle East.

His tone was not as threatening as the previous messages but his timing was controversial.

The tape emerged just as George Bush, the US president, reaffirmed his policies in Iraq ahead of the Petraeus report on progress in the country, but it may also prove useful for Democrats already on the attack over Bush’s focus on Iraq at the expensive of capturing Osama bin Laden himself.

So what is the message for American citizens within the tape and what will be its impact?
