Attacks in Algeria and Morocco suggest the group is stepping up operations in the region.

Al-Qaeda lays claim to twin blasts that killed more than 30 people in Algeria.
One day earlier, in neighbouring Morocco, four would-be suicide bombers died while being chased by police.
Authorities deny the two blasts are linked. But it all comes on weeks of surging violence in North Africa.
Is al-Qaeda really widening its sphere of operations to that region? And if so, with what aim? Local targets or something more global?
