Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, has ruled out talks with Hamas unless it cedes control of the Gaza Strip, which it took over following weeks of bloody fighting against Fatah’s forces this summer.

His comments follow Hamas’s declaration that it would hold reconciliation talks with Fatah and hints that it may be ready to give up control of Gaza.

So, will Hamas cede power to Fatah?

And is a deal between the two factions possible?
