Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, is in Tehran in the first visit to the country by a Russian leader for six decades.
Putin is there to attend a summit of Caspian Sea states.
This visit is of a major significance for Iran because of the stand-off over its nuclear activities.
So, can Tehran rely on Moscow to be a long-term ally?
And how do Western countries view this close relationship?
