On November 19, 2005, US marines killed 24 people, many of them women and children, in Haditha.
Nick Broomfield’s Battle for Haditha portrays the Haditha killings. The film is due to be released in 2008.
The film assembles a cast that includes former US marines and Iraqi refugees.
In it, an Iraqi man driven by despair seeks revenge by joining the insurgency against the occupying army and plants a bomb targeting a passing military convoy.
A marine, infuriated by the death of a comrade, opens fire on villagers, killing many.
Inside Iraq this week looks at what lies behind the film.
