Egypt in transition: presidential election
The country gets ready to vote for the next leader and it seems it’s already clear who the frontrunner is.
Egypt is gearing up for presidential elections, scheduled for Monday. This is the second election in as many years – with two men vying for the top spot – former field marshal Abdel Fatah el-Sisi and former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahy.
Egyptians living abroad have already made their pick – the latest numbers suggest more than 90 percent of them chose Sisi. He led the coup that toppled the country’s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi.
