Head to Head is Al Jazeera’s new forum for ideas, hosted by Mehdi Hasan.
In each episode, he goes head to head with a special guest, asking the probing and hard-hitting questions few dare to ask.
It is a gladiatorial contest, tackling some of the big issues of our time – faith, foreign intervention, the Middle East, US foreign policy, and the economic crisis.
A panel of experts and witnesses help to flesh out the topic, and an informed audience questions both guest and presenter, offering insight and input on the topic being discussed. More often than not, some of the most challenging questions come from the audience.
Head to Head is recorded at the historic Oxford Union, no stranger to rigorous intellectual debate, which has played host to such outstanding orators as Winston Churchill, Benazir Bhutto and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Mehdi Hasan is the political editor of the Huffington Post UK, author of The Debt Delusion, and co-author of Ed: The Milibands and the Making of a Labour Leader.
