In a special programme from Kabul, Sir David talks to the commander of ISAF and US forces in Afghanistan about the Taliban, the planned troop withdrawal and what would constitute victory in this war.

Hamid Karzai became Afghanistan’s president in 2004, he won a second term last year despite allegations of vote rigging, and although they have had their spats he is the man, the Americans have to do business with.
Most recently he set up his own peace council to begin informal negotiations with the Taliban to try to end the war. He talks to Sir David about negotiating with the Taliban, the relationship with the US, accusations of corruption, and his vision for Afghanistan in ten years time.
