Top Iranian general killed in US attack
General Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, has been killed in a US attack in Baghdad.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned of “harsh revenge” and said the assassination of Qassem Soleimani would double Iran’s resolve to resist the United States.
This has been the most extreme escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington in recent years.
