More peace talks over Syria, but can they end the war?

US and Russia meet regional powers in Swiss city of Lausanne to try a push for peace amid continued Aleppo bombardment.

The war in Syria has killed hundreds of thousands of people. Millions have been displaced, and ancient cities have been destroyed. But there appears to be no end in sight.

The heavy bombardment of the northern city of Aleppo by Russian and Syrian forces continues.

Previous talks have ended in disappointment and disagreement.

John Kerry, the US secretary of state, and Sergey Lavrov, Russian foreign minister, are now back at the negotiating table meeting their counterparts from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.
