Nepalese protesters support doctor on hunger strike with #IAmWithDrKC

Doctor in second week of hunger strike against what he calls corruption in Nepal’s health care system.

A doctor’s hunger strike is gaining steam in Nepal as medical professionals join his campaign against what they view as corruption in the country’s medical education system. Doctor Govinda KC has been on hunger strike for ten days over concerns about political interference in medical education, particularly the standards medical colleges must uphold before becoming affiliated with the country’s Institute of Medicine. This is not the first hunger strike for the doctor, who has used the tactic in the past to raise awareness on other issues about Nepal’s health care system.

#IAmWithDrKC has been used more than 8,000 times in the past week as medical professionals protested in support of the doctor.
