Prominent anchorwoman Sedef Kabaş was detained after criticising a prosecutor’s decision to drop a 2013 corruption investigation which implicated high-profile state officials. “Don’t ever forget this man. He is the prosecutor Hadi Salihoglu, who decided not to pursue the proceedings in the December 17th case,” Kabaş tweeted. Police raided the journalist’s home, confiscating her tablet, computer and mobile phone. According to Turkish authorities, Kabaş is being held on charges of “targeting people who are involved in anti-terror operations”. Turkey is among the top 10 worst jailers of journalists globally. The country was the leading jailer in 2013 when it had at least 40 journalist behind bars.
