Extended interview: Kinky Friedman

The politician and singer discusses Texas and the shortcomings the southern state needs to address.

Kinky Friedman is a country and Western singer, a politician, humourist and a former columnist of Texas Monthly. In 2006, he was one of two independent candidates who ran for the office of the Governor of Texas.

Friedman plans to run for Texas Agriculture Commissioner and, should he win this position, he plans to end the prohibition on marijuana and boost hemp cultivation in the state.

In this extended interview, he talks about what makes Texas a special place, and the shortcomings it needs to address.
