What is the legacy of Steve Jobs?

Can Apple’s resounding success be attributed to a pure marketing ploy or its co-founder’s genuine belief in the product?

As tributes to Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs flooded in, Barack Obama, the US president, described him as one of the “greatest of American innovators”.

The man who gave the world the Mac, iPod, iPhone and iPad passed away on Wednesday at the age of 56, after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

News of his passing spread globally on the very devices he had created.

Tim Cook, Apple’s new CEO, said the company has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.

Jobs left behind one of the world’s most popular brands, and a fortune of more than $8bn.
