US combat forces have left Iraq, but who should be held accountable for the invasion and occupation that has left hundreds of thousands dead?
The country has been in a political stalemate since its parliamentary elections in March.
Critics of the occupation say Iraq is worse off than it was under Saddam Hussein, the then leader and that those who led the charge for war should be held to account – and possibly charged with war crimes.
On Thursday’s Riz Khan, we speak to veteran investigative journalist John Pilger.

In his most recent column for the New Statesman magazine, Pilger compares the role of Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, in the Iraq invasion to “paramount war crime”, as defined by the 1946 Nuremberg trials.
He says over one million deaths have resulted since the Iraq war began in 2003.
