The tsunami anniversary

101 East asks if Asia is now better equipped to handle such a disaster.

It is said to have been the largest natural disaster this century.

The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami swept away over 230,000 lives across Asia, including in Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

In the aftermath, international governments and aid organisations worked to rebuild affected communities and to strengthen emergency systems.

On this episode of 101 East, we look at the rebuilding efforts so far, and ask if Asia is better prepared to avoid a similar tragedy in the future.
