In this episode of Talk to Jazeera, Al Jazeera’s Ghida Fakhry talks to Bernard Kouchner, the French foreign minister.

The United Nations security council has agreed to wait for reports from the European Union and the International Atomic Energy Agency before deciding on a new round of sanctions against Iran, for its refusal to abandon its uranium enrichment as part of its nuclear programme.

Leading the way to pressure other security council members to impose sanctions on Iran are the United States and France.

In a riveting one-on-one interview, Ghida Fakhry sits down with French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner and presses him on the Iran nuclear issue, as well as France’s relationship with the United States and the situation in Iraq.

Throughout the conversation, Kouchner goes on the defensive, defending his track record, but Fakhry remains unintimidated, continuing to ask tough questions that challenge Kouchner.
