The stakes of the renewed freeze is not just about territory and influence; money is also a source of tension between the super powers. At the top of the world, battle lines are drawn to lay claim to some 13 percent of the world’s undiscovered oil and one- third of its natural gas.
Emil Constantinescu, a former Romanian president says: “A new Cold War is a reality, we live in a new Cold War, but it is a danger [sic] for real war.”
