John Chalcraft

John Chalcraft is Professor of Middle East History and Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His research focuses on labour, survivalist enterprise, migration and popular mobilisation in the Middle East. His most recent book is Popular Politics in the Making of the Modern Middle East (Cambridge, 2016). His current research focuses on transnational activism and postcolonial Gramscian approaches to popular mobilisation.
