Editor's note: Clarification, not apology

    A few days ago, Al Jazeera published a clarification of a tweet reporting on an attack in occupied East Jerusalem, where a Palestinian man stabbed to death two Israeli men. The Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli police.

    Our clarification has been misrepresented by some as an apology for our coverage, or for the content of the report. This could not be further from the truth. The tweet was factual, but warranted rewording.

    Publishing clarifications is a routine editorial practice for Al Jazeera. We do it out of respect for the trust that our audience has in the accuracy of our coverage, both in style and substance.
