First UAE woman in North Pole trek

Elham al-Qasimi recounts her journey to the freezing northernmost point of the Earth.

Elham al-Qasimi recently traded her traditional long dress - common in her native United Arab Emirates - for a puffy parka in a quest to become the first Arab woman to reach the North Pole.

The trip was unsupported and unassisted, meaning no motorised equipment was used and there were no resupplies along the way.

Al-Qasimi narrated her experience to Al Jazeera.
