UN: Israel creating gap of trust

Ban Ki-moon tells Al Jazeera Israeli settlement building has created "gap of trust and confidence".

    The UN secretary-general tells Al Jazeera's Abderrahim Foukara that illegal Israeli settlement building has created a "gap of trust and confidence", particularly amid efforts to relaunch talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

    Ban Ki-moon, who has just returned from a visit to the Middle East, also calls on Israel to fully respect international law and look at the plight of the Palestinian people who are suffering from the "closure of Gaza".
