Palestinian 'attacks' Israel police

    But Walid al-Umari, Al Jazeera's Palestine bureau chief, reporting from Ramallah, said: "The information Al Jazeera has so far received indicates that the incident probably comes as a regular car accident."

    The fact that the driver is an Arab and the incident took place at an Israeli military checkpoint may have left Israeli police with the impression that the police had been deliberately targeted, he said.

    The incident comes 11 days after Israeli police killed a Palestinian who they said tried to drive a vehicle into a checkpoint near an occupied east Jerusalem village.

    That alleged attack took place after police demolished the family home of Hossam Dwayyat, who last June killed three Israelis as he drove a mechanical digger at high speed through west Jerusalem.
